Italy is at the bottom of the standings although there is talk of the benefits of broadband fixed network. According to the quarterly newsletter disseminated by AGCOM, our country is on the 47th place in the world, with an average speed of just 5.2 megs. Compared to other countries, the average speed of Italian is less than a quarter of that of South Korea and less than Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, according to these data, only 1.6% of the Italian lines is able to support video services of high quality.
Telecom Italy has recorded in the fixed telephone network in the last 12 months, a decrease in total which is around 1.8% to stand at 61.4%. Over the past two years, however, Telecom has lost almost 1.5 million lines. Wind has maintained stable positions instead of 13.5%, while Fastweb has confirmed the growth trend, touching 10% (+ 0.8%) and consolidating the gap against Vodafone, which is 9.5% fermatoal .
