MILAN, March 24 (Reuters) – Mediaset ended 2014 with a profit and proposes the distribution of a small dividend but does not dare to make predictions for the current year.
The group recorded revenues substantially stable for 3.414 billion, of which 2.483 billion in Italy, from 2,588 in 2013. EBIT was positive at 248.8 million from 246.3 (in Italy falls to 104.4 million from 176 100 000).
The net profit rose to 23.7 million from 8.9 million a year earlier and the dividend will be 0.02 euro per share (last year it was not distributed).
Net debt was reduced to 861.3 million from 968 million at the end of September. “This is the lowest level of debt reached in the last seven years,” said the note.
In Italy the dynamics of the advertising market in early 2015 confirms the gradual improvement compared to previous quarters but it remains difficult to predict the trend in the rest of the year, the statement which highlights the positive trend in the first two months in Spain.
“The combination of these elements does not allow a reliable estimate of the performance of the consolidated financial results for the year. These results depend mainly by, especially in the second half of the year, advertising revenues in Italy and Spain and subscriptions related to the new offer Mediaset Premium football provides for the exclusive three-year Champions League, “the statement concludes.
