(AGI) – Ignazio Visco back to the office on whether to set up a bad bank in which to merge non-performing loans of the Italian Institutes.
Speaking at a conference, the Governor of the Bank of Italy said that banks tricolor have withstood the long recession, but the crisis has left a “heavy legacy”: bad debts of firms exit the market or serious difficulties. These sufferings, explained, weight budgets by restricting the ability to grant new loans “to healthy companies and vital.” For these reasons Visco calls for a state intervention that, in compliance with European legislation, favors the creation of a market for non-performing loans of banks.
