Abi: in 2015 loans to households for house increasing by 97% – Il Sole 24 Ore

it shared the mortgage market. In 2015, new loans for the purchase of property by households recorded an annual increase of + 97.1% compared to the same time period last year. This was announced by the ABI on the basis of a representative sample of banks (which account for over 80% of the market).

More specifically, the data for the period January to December of 2015 highlight the strong recovery of the market for loans to households for house purchase. In the entire 2015 amount of disbursements of new loans it amounted to 49.826 billion, compared with EUR 25.283 billion in the same period of 2014. The annual increase is, therefore, of 97.1%. The incidence of subrogation of total new financing amounted, in the entire 2015, to about 31%. The amount of new loans in 2015 is even higher than it is more than double the figure of 2013, when they amounted to about 19.085 billion Euros, is the value of 2012 (20.712 billion euro).

Growth in fixed rate mortgages
The adjustable rate mortgages represent, throughout 2015, 42.8% of total new loans; in recent months are in the strong increase in fixed rate mortgages that reached in December 2015, two thirds of new loans, were 25% twelve months earlier.
The strong recovery in new loans is also reflecting on Total mortgages of families. Based on the latest official figures available, relating to the end of November 2015, the total amount of outstanding mortgage loans of households registered a positive variation of 0.5% against the end of November 2014, confirming, therefore, the recovery of the market mortgages.
