Tobacco, Bat invests in Italian: piano 1 billion in 5 years – The Messenger

After the investment plan announced in March, British American Tobacco has decided to focus more on Italy. Ten years after the acquisition of Ente Tabacchi Italian for € 2.3 billion (the largest investment so far carried out by a multinational company in the Peninsula), the British multinational has launched a five-year plan of investment by more than 1 billion Euros which will be articulated in various areas, including manufacturing, agriculture, scientific research, purchase of machinery.

This initiative will create 300 new jobs, to which is added the employment generated by the support to Italian companies, growers, retailers and the scientific community. The tobacco sector generates not only work, but also tax revenues for several billion euro in VAT and excise duties, representing one of the main sources erariali for the Italian State.
