Gdp, Renzi raised: “we’ll See who’s right.” Minority dem: stop the Def, there is no clarity – The Republic

the MILAN - “there is No clarity on the Gdp. Without the validation of the update to the def by the office of the parliamentary budget you can realistically express the opinions required of the parliamentary committees”. Position the dried and request to stop the discussion on Document cost effective and financial. Certainly that is not pleasing to the government, especially because it comes in the evening – after a day of controversy – from the minority dem. And, even if not directly, in a long interview to Radio Capital, Renzi responds with just as much clarity: “We are talking about decimal places of difference and all the times in this period, arrives on time the same old story, as the student occupations, the controversy on the covers. For the moment, are always found. We’ll see who’s right.”

But the day started with the discussion on economic forecast in the Parliament by the minister of the Economy. The growth forecasts are gradually deteriorating during the year, due to variables outside Italy, and Italy travel at a pace of recovery “slower than desirable”. The next Budget law, the old “Stability”, is entrusted with the task of strengthening growth. The minister of the Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan, explained in Parliament hearing to the government’s point of view on public accounts in response to the criticism rained from authoritative sources such as the bank of Italy, european Court of Auditors and the Office of the Parliamentary Budget on optimism in order to write the forecast of +1% to the Gdp of the next year. The Upb has arrived to level the programmatic framework defined for how you can configure the current state, waiting for the Budget Law of the next few days – from the update Note of the Def.

“The Gdp programmatic is not a bet,” he punctuated Padoan in front of the parliamentarians, claiming that the estimate written in the Def is the daughter of the intervention programs that will come to fruition with the Budget law to be approved by the 20th of the month. “It’s a goal, optimistic, according to some commentators, ambitious, according to others. Also we consider that this objective is ambitious, because we have the duty. This ambition is backed up in a concrete way by a maneuver that gives a boost to growth”. Padoan he quoted the president of the Ecb, Mario Draghi, who has repeatedly invited to change the mix of construction of the budget (including income and expenditure) in order to boost growth, even without adding to the deficit. “The manoeuvre is built with the care relied on by the governor of the Ecb”.

The minister came and then the confirmation of the planning scenario (+1% for the Gdp in 2017), “on the basis of the awareness of the evaluation of the impacts of the measures included in the budget law, the rate of growth”. Information “that were not available to the Upb, and other forecasters, and that is why I think that there are the margins to close” the difference between the forecast”. The hypothesis of “arm of iron” with the Office led by Pisauro, feared in the classroom, Padoan replied that “the government operates on the basis of a dialogue” and therefore excluding a head-on collision.

The owner of via XX Settembre has rather mentioned what are the chapters of the coming Financial year, according to the government, will lead to achieving that goal of growth (which is 0.4 percentage points above the level that would be reached without the law): “I advance the two pillars of the next Budget law,” he said. “The deactivation of the safeguard clauses for 0.9 percentage points of Gdp, and new policy measures for growth”. The reference is to the “incentives to investment, innovation, research and development; Sme support, major invesitmenti public and support to the family and to the low pensions”. With regard to the reduction of the debt, Padoan explained that, “it remains the government’s intention to proceed with divestitures and privatisations, which have slowed only by the volatility of the financial markets”.

Among the critical voices towards the report Padoan, Stefano Fassina (former chief economic of the Pd) has accused the government of having inserted in the Note a rating of “propaganda” by attributing to the constitutional reform a contribution to the “stability” of the policy framework. He then spoke of the “glaring irrealismo” estimates of the improvement of investments, as a result of aid coming from the government.

On the negative assessments of the observers was expressed by the leader of the socialist of the european Parliament, Gianni Pittella, according to which they are “interim” and will not have consequences on the evaluations of Brussels because “the european Commission and in particular the president Juncker appreciate what you’re doing Italy.” Continue Pittella: “I don’t see how Brussels can say ‘no’ to a deviation of one zerovirgola” to secure the territory after the earthquake, “it would be absurd.”
