ESCOBEDO – The chairman of Brembo, Alberto Bombassei has opened in Escobedo, in the state of Nuoevo Léon in Mexico, a new plant for the realization of aluminum calipers and has announced, in the same area, the construction of a new foundry for the realization of cast iron discs.
The new plant in Escobedo “was made in record time, with an investment of 32 million euros,” with the objective “to strengthen” the presence in the north american of the group, explained Bombassei. Once operational, the manufacturing center will be able to produce two million calipers brake for motor vehicles a year. The plant, which extends over a surface area of 35 thousand square meters, “will generate a turnover of around 100 million euro per year, and 500 new jobs, which will become about 700, when it will also be open the foundry,” added the executive vice-president of Brembo, Matteo Tiraboschi.
The foundry, whose work will begin in a few weeks, will be operational by the end of 2017 and provides for an additional investment of 85 million euros. The new opening in Mexico is a “challenge” but confirms that “the policy of the company to follow and stay close to their customers,” he added Bombassei, with a new plant that will be among “the most modern and avant-garde” of the group. The decision to open the new plant in Mexico “does not follow the state incentives,” but “is tied closely tied to the business,” explained Christian. “For the Brembo – said the manager – the american market is becoming increasingly strategic: north America is about 30% of the turnover of the group, i.e. about 600 million, but the goal is to reach a billion dollars.”
the ribbon-cutting was attended by representatives of mexican institutions and, for Italy, the under-secretary for foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova. Brembo, a multinational company specialized in the design and construction of braking systems with offices in Stezzano (Bergamo-italy), operates in 15 Countries on three continents, with 24 plants and more than 8 thousand employees.
