The fight austerity promoted by the greek government has brought thousands of people to the streets in Athens and Paris. In the Greek capital at least 15 thousand took to the streets to show their support to the greek prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, the eve of a crucial meeting of the Euro which will discuss the Greek debt. Shouting “No extortion, no going back, we will win!”, Protesters flooded Syntagma Square, the Parliament, and dozens of cities across the country. This was the third event in Athens organized by SYRIZA in a few days. The Greeks seem then marry the line Tsipras to request renegotiations of debt.
The 60.6% are in favor and only 37% opposed, according to a survey by Kappa Research , although only 48.1% think that will win the day in the confrontation with the EU and the IMF. The prime minister, for his part, said he was confident that if Greece will be given time to implement his reforms you will get to a solution “in which everyone wins.” “I want to save Greece from the tragedy and prevent Europe divide,” he assured in an interview with the German weekly Stern, “I promise you that within six months we will be a different country.” Marches of solidarity with Athens were also held in other European cities; at least 2 thousand militants of the extreme left of the trade unions and the French marched in Paris for the rally in support of Greece’s Tsipras against “the Goliath of finance.” The crowd waved flags of SYRIZA, the leftist party of neo-Greek prime minister, and has held banners with slogans such as “In Greece, France, resistance against austerity and finance.”
