Greece, Moody's cut the rating on CreditWatch rating 5 banks after … – Reuters Italy

MILAN February 9, (Reuters) – Moody’s lowered the ratings of five Greek banks as a result of the decision, announced last week, to put under review for possible downgrade the sovereign rating ‘Caa1′.

Today’s downgrade reflects the likelihood of support systemic smaller given the high uncertainty that the new government greek arrivals to an agreement with international creditors on time to meet the liquidity needs and funding and can lower the fund’s ability Hfsf stability of the country to support banks in case of need, it said in a statement.

The Agency then cut the rating of Piraeus Bank, National Bank of Greece and Alpha Bank to ‘Caa2′ from ‘Caa1′, Eurobank Ergasias and Attica Bank to ‘Caa3′ from ‘Caa2′. The ratings are also under review for possible further downgrade.
