Italy, production down 0.3% on month in April, up 0.1% on year, below expectations – Reuters Italy

       

ROME (Reuters) – In April, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production fell by 0.3% on the previous month. This was announced by ISTAT.

       

In March the index had risen by 0.5% on a cyclical basis, revised from 0.4%.

       

The index adjusted for working days was up by 0.1% year on year from 1.4% in March (revised from +1.5%).

       

The economists’ forecasts pointed to an increase of 0.2% on the month and 0.8% on year.

       

The Institute of Statistics notes that on average in the period from February to April, production increased by 0.5% over the previous quarter, while in the first four months of the year decreased by 0.1% on the same period of ‘previous year.
