Industrial production falls in June, scoring on a trend basis, the worst figure since the beginning of 2015, and, for the first time since May 2014, also decreases the production of motor vehicles. According to figures compiled by Istat, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index in June fell by 0.4% compared to May. Adjusted for calendar effects, in June 2016, the index decreased by 1.0% in terms of trend (working days were 21 as in June 2015). It is the increased tendency to fall since January 2015, when he scored -2.1%. On average for the quarter April to June 2016, the production showed a 0.4% decline compared to the previous quarter. On average for the first six months of the year, production increased by 0.8% compared to the same period last year. The seasonally adjusted monthly index shows negative changes in the groupings of intermediate goods (-1.1%), consumer goods (-1.0%) and energy (-0.7%). No change instead marks the sector of capital goods. In trend terms the correct indexes for calendar effects recorded in June 2016, only one increase in intermediate goods (+ 0.8%). instead decrease the energy (-5.5%) and, to a lesser extent, the groupings of consumer goods (-2.1%) and capital goods (-0.3%). The production of motor vehicles in June 2016 marks a decrease of 1% compared to the same month of 2015 (adjusted for calendar effects). This is the first negative figure since May 2014, when the production had marked -3.7%. The raw data trend to June amounted to -1%. The production of motor vehicles in the first six months of 2016, compared to the first six months of 2015, marking 8.3%, correct figure (+ 8.5% the raw data). In terms of economic developments the Italian Institute of Statistics, the monthly note, points out that there is a slowdown, albeit less than in recent months. “The composite leading indicator of the Italian economy – said the Mayor – showed a further decline, albeit to a lesser intensity compared to the past few months’ declines. Finally inflation, in perspective, “although it might have passed its low point, still prevail expectations for a moderate evolution”. Last month, Istat noted “the divergence in the traders’ expectations among consumers, increasing again the share of those who expect prices stable or declining (61.9% in July compared to 56.7% in June ) while for companies producing consumer goods we report a new slight increase of those who envisage a resumption of their lists of sales. “
