USA, manufacturing PMI disappoints expectations – The Messenger

(AGI) – The US manufacturing activity is expected to have declined in August confirming the down trend that exists now for early 2016. In August, the PMI manufacturing index flash estimate indicates a level of 52.1 points, down from 52.9 in July. The data, published by Markit, disappoints market expectations which were for a given 52,7 points. The index confirmed its position above the key threshold of 50 points, which indicates expansion in the manufacturing sector. “The decline in August, do SMEs is a disappointment but less worrisome when viewed in the perspective that in July was better than expected. This commentary by Chris Williamson, Chief Economist at Markit Business who added:” taking the readings of July and August these together suggest that, in the third quarter, production is enjoying its best annual growth at least until aa right now. ”
