Eurostat: the Italian economy invests little in culture and education – Web Economics

Eurostat releases disturbing news on’ Italian economy : the Bel country invests little in culture and education, two sectors that instead in the other European countries are much more developed, and able to form excellent scholars and professionals thanks to their training accompanied by excellent refresher courses, guarantee the company a quality of work and much better life.

Unfortunately reliable statistics have shown that Italians are among the least scholars throughout Europe , although in Italy there are universities for excellence, very prestigious and well-known all over the world. Just think of the Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna, which is the oldest in the Western world, founded in 1088, and always at the top of the charts from the best Italian universities for the quality of its educational programs. Even the Bocconi University in Milan located, is one of the best and very popular because it has a large turnout of students who after graduation are able to enter the world of work without much difficulty.

Eurostat: Italy among the countries of the EU, is in last place for the spending of Education

Eurostat launches very sad statement for the identity of our country: Italy within the European Union is the last place for spending percentage public destined for Education (7.9% in 2014 against 10.2% EU average) and the second lowest (lags only Greece) for the one destined to culture (1.4% against 2.1% EU average).

 eurostat
merciless Eurostat statistics for Italy in the education and culture sectors

the figures go back to a study by Eurostat in 2014 about the government spending divided by function according to which is more higher than average percentage of expenditure on social protection (41.8% in spite of 40.4% in the EU 28, but at a still lower level compared to other countries such as France appears to 43.1% ).

Following the percentage of GDP, how they communicate to Eurostat data, Italy’s spending invested in education, was 4.1% despite a 4.9% average of ‘ European Union. Italy finds itself in a position of the ranking, indeed very serious, since it is virtually located as the penultimate between countries, after Romania (3%), together with Spain, Bulgaria and Slovakia.

As for the also the Education sector of Culture is not a preferred investment from Italy

Education is not the only sector in decline, also Culture Italy lives a precarious economic situation, in fact, the investment recorded by Eurostat came to 0.7% compared to 1% of the EU average, while the worst result is represented by Greece with 0.6%.

But we now see the differences on which the EUSTAT has shed light regarding the expenditure related to the various types of education: education spending is in line with the average in primary education, while it is slightly lower for secondary education, and even more down on tertiary education ie university or post-graduate and research.

the world of universities and research, still in Italy not getting investments they can increase employment in university structures: spending as a percentage of GDP in tertiary education is 0.8% in the EU average and 0.3% in Italy, while the percentage of public spending in the EU amounted to average 1.6% and Italy at 0.7%. This means that Italy is at the end of a long list of the expenses related to education in the EU, far from the results of the German expenditure for the same sector, or 0.9% of GDP, and 2% on public spending.

In Italy is the social protection has the highest spending

as for the sector of the social protection Italy spends 21.5% of GDP (19.5% of the EU average), is thus among the first places after Finland, France, Denmark and Austria.

increased spending for Italy it would in fact for general services, an area that includes the interest on the debt, expenses for elected bodies, and most of the costs for the operation of public administration.

Among the data provided by Eurostat, in Italy this area spends 8.9% of GDP ( against the 6.7% EU average), and 17.4% of public spending in the face of 13.9% in the EU (a result that less than what was recorded in 2013 when the figure was 17, 5%).

the health instead is a sector in which Italy spends about 7.2% of GDP.

Eurostat here is what excels in Italy than in the rest of the EU countries

another important fact about the economy of the Bel Paese regards the Italian public spending on GDP, that exceeds the EU average: in 2014 were 51.3% compared to an average of 48.2% of the Twenty-eight. To overcome Italy spending more on public spending, there are Finland (58.1%), France (57.5%), Denmark (56%), Sweden (51.8%) and Portugal (51.7%).

While Germany and Britain are the countries that invest less in public spending, recording respectively 44.3% and 43.9%.
