06:22 – the merger between BPM and Banco Popular is positive “for the two banks and the Italian banking system.” This was stated by Moody’s, noting that the two banks together will be able to “navigate a competitive environment. In the long term, the merger should result in cost savings and greater diversification of revenue”. “There remain risks” including negotiations with trade unions and the choice of management.
