Rome – Industrial production rising in April: the Istat index corrected for calendar effects increases 0.5% compared to March and of ’1.8 compared to April 2015. The raw data show, however, during the year, a decline of 0.3% due to a difference in days worked. On average for the first four months, production increased by 1.6% over the same period 2015. On the month grow intermediate goods (+ 2.2%) and consumer goods (+ 1.1%), decrease energy (-1.5%) and capital goods (-0.1%). Instead compared with April last year, the highest increase was observed for intermediate goods (+ 4.2%) and capital goods (+ 3.7%). The sector showing the rising higher than the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, which rose 8% compared to March and by 6.3% on an annual basis. It follows the manufacture of chemical products, plus 4.3% and 5.2% compared with April last year. The monthly index is rising for almost all sectors, except mining activity (minus 5.5%), manufacture of machinery and equipment, and supply of electricity and gas. Also in the annual comparison prevail plus signs, though declining supply of energy, mining activities and the textile, clothing, leather and accessories that reduces the production of 3.3%. These data confirm the positive ‘ signs of a recovery, the subject also of the report of the President of Confindustria Young Gay Marco this morning in Santa Margherita Ligure. Back on the rise also the production of motor vehicles, which after months of recovery in March had declined. Istat it detects an increase of 8.8% over the year (data adjusted for calendar effects) and a 11.1% jump in the first four months of the year. Overall, the transportation trend seen increases of 4.6% in April and 6.1% in the first half of 2016.
