Rome – Volkswagen is ready to present a plan by $ 10 billion to resolve the scandal of dieselgate in the United States. The German automaker will present to the American authorities measures to repair or take half a million cars from the road, although it is still awaiting the green light from the authorities on how to repair cars. The agreement provides for the possibility for owners to ask the repair of their car. The US Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board has not yet approved the remedies proposed by Volkswagen, so there is no current roadmap on how this could happen, nor guarantee that the repairs are approved. the plan provides – according to the Bloomberg agency – the allocation of $ 6.5 billion for car owners and 3.5 billion dollars to the US government and the authorities of California. Lawyers for Volkswagen car owners must submit the agreement before June 28 to federal judge in San Francisco who led the lawsuit filed against Volkswagen. The court will consider the proposal, along with the agreement of the manufacturer with the authorities, before deciding whether to approve it. The agreement includes an option for car owners to sell to Volkswagen their car and end the lease early. The Volkswagen initiative aims to regain the trust of customers and the authorities after He admitted that he rigged the test to 11 million diesel cars in the world. An admission that the place has cost the CEO Martin Winterkorn and drove Volkswagen to set aside 16.2 billion EUR to cover the costs of the scandal, including repairs and litigation.
