Basically the tie. Hooked to the “zero point”.
In June – compared to the previous month – exports show a slight plus sign (+ 0.3%) while imports were down (-0.5 percent). The notes Istat, in the report with the non-EU foreign trade, which also points out that the trade surplus (+3.4 billion) is much bigger than that of the same month of 2015 (+2 billion).
However, continues the trend of a monthly contraction in exports year on year which recorded a -2.8 per cent, going up until you reach the -13% to imports voice.
mild cyclical increase in sales in June, to non-EU countries comes mainly from the sales of capital goods (+ 2.9%, in the presence of significant sales of maritime navigation aids) and, to a lesser degree, energy (+ 11.5 percent). Are, however, declining sales of intermediate goods (-3.5%) and non-durable consumer goods (-1%).
On the buy side, the economic downturn affects capital goods (-4%) and, to a less intense, intermediate goods (-0.9%) and non-durable consumer goods (-0 , 5%). While our “shopping” overseas for durable consumer goods and energy – respectively + 3.1% and + 2.4% – is expanding.
Looking a bit ‘more long period, however, the picture is mixed. If
last quarter, economic momentum in exports to non-EU countries was confirmed in expansion (+ 2.9%), as well as the increase in economic imports (+ 2.4%) in the first half of 2016 both trade flows show a downward trend: well -8.8% and -3.9%, imports, exports (if the anxhe excluding energy, the decline of both streams is much less marked, -0.9% -1.8% purchases and sales).
in the first half of 2016, however, the balance with non-EU countries amounted to 16.5 billion compared of +13.1 billion in the same period of 2015.
in June 2016, it is observed for the second consecutive month a year increase in sales of goods to Russia (+ 5.1%). In the same month, exports of goods to Japan (+ 17%) and from the Asean countries (+ 5%) are in strong acceleration over the first half of the year.
Also in June, it is confirmed, then the decline – already recorded in 2015 and in
first five months of 2016 – in the Mercosur countries (-18.2%), Turkey
(-12.6%) and the US (-6.8%).
