The rate of inflation in December 2016, has recorded a leap. Consumer prices, according to provisional data from Istat, are increased by 0.5% compared to December 2015. It was the largest increase by two and a half years starting in may of 2014 (when the increase was of 0.5%), but was insufficient to raise the result for the entire year, which closed with the minus sign for the first time in 57 years. The last time was, in fact, happened in 1959. Also, compared to November 2016, the price index increased by 0.4%. The resurgence of inflation in December 2016, stresses the institute of statistics, is due mainly to the acceleration of the growth of prices of services related to transport (+2,6% +0,9% in November), the energy non-regulated (+2,4% +0,3% in November), food and non-processed (+1.8%, the was +0.2% the previous month). The prices of the products, high purchase frequency increase of 0.3% on a monthly basis and 1.0% on an annual basis (it was +0,5% in November).
