Crisis, no Christmas break for 48 million Italians – The Republic

MILAN – Christmas and New Year at home to 48 million Italians. The crisis bites hard and if 18 million say they do not leave by choice, some 30 million, an Italian on two, does not do it for economic reasons. Well beyond the detection statistics the recovery is still far away. This year will be only 11.8 million Italians who ritaglieranno few days off, five at the most, out of the house, 1.6% less than it was 12 months ago, when it seemed that the crisis had hit bottom.

In short, the survey forecast Federalberghi shows a country in difficulty, but – above all – divided into two: the turnover, in fact, is likely to increase by 12% over last year at a cost for the Christmas holidays that could reach 7.8 billion euro. A fact fueled by the increase in Italian who will travel abroad, especially in European capitals and in the Red Sea resort if 4.7 billion will be spent within national bo rders, 3 billion will be spent abroad, with a surge 27.5%

The survey Federalberghi notes that at Christmas, 88% will remain in Italy (compared to 91% in 2013) and 12% will go abroad (compared to 9% in 2013 ). A New Year 69% will remain in Italy (compared to 76% in 2013) and 31% will go abroad (compared to 24% in 2013). “The decline of Italian holiday that will be recorded during the upcoming Christmas and New Year is like a fire smoldering under the ashes”, says the president of Federalberghi, Bernabo Bocca, that need urgent action by the government to give back liquidity to the families and to support the tourism industry.

“While domestic demand langue – supports Bocca see you deny even the tools required to intercept the international clientele. The management costs, the burden of bureaucracy and the tax burden go up. A few months from the Expo, foreign delegations of ENIT were beheaded, the reform of the institution langue, the orders implementing the decree tourism have not yet been issued and the stability law has effectively ignored the sector. It ‘s time to figure out if this country wants to invest seriously on tourism or if it is an issue only good for the chatter from the living room. “

A few signs of recovery, however, comes from the confidence of the Italian : according to a survey of Confturismo-Confcommercio wanderlust grows. Even one of them would have planned a vacation during the winter season, provided, however, that the country shows signs of recovery.
