Fincantieri: order of two ships from Carnival, leading cruise
TRIESTE. – Closes 2014 Fincantieri and pulls a budget that goes back in time. Not in the sense of a regression but, on the contrary, of a concrete recovery. The order for the last two it was announced today, and the customer is Carnival, which commissioned the US at the top of the cruise industry with which the Italian group has formed an experienced and established relationship of trust. It’s twins: the Carnival Vista and Koningsdam. The orders are on behalf of Carnival Cruise Lines, so Fincantieri produce the 26 / a ship in the fleet made for the brand, and the other group brand, Holland America Line. The ship for Carnival Cruise Lines has 133,500 gross tons, capacity 3,954 passengers, will enter service in spring 2018. The unit for Holland America Line, depending on the class Pinnacle, will have a gross tonnage of 99,500 tons, can accommodate 2,650 passengers, and will be delivered in 2018. Since 1990 Fincantieri has built 67 cruise ships. Between now and 2018 another 17 units, including 8 for the Carnival Group. The parties have not disclosed the value of the order, but analysts, referring to sources in the cruise industry as “Seatrade”, consider that exceed one billion euro. The news spreads and the effects are immediate: today the title of the group closed with a rise of 4.22%.
