Excluding the cost of the house, except for services related to the same, the average household expenditure is equal, in 2015, to EUR 1,910.34, an increase of 0.7% compared to 2014 and of ’1.9% compared to 2013. the Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige are the regions with the highest average expenditure (respectively 3030.64 and 3022.16 Euros). Calabria is rather the region with the least expense, € 1729.20 monthly, 60% lower than the highest values.

household food expenditure by 1.2% in 2015 – the average level of food expenditure of Italian families in 2015, amounted to EUR 441.50 per month, was of 436.06 Euros in 2014, with growth of 1.2%. It stops the decrease in expenditure on meat, in place since 2011, coming in at 98.25 euro monthly. Spending on fruit increased by 4.5% compared to 2014 (from 38,71 to 40,45 Euros per month), one for mineral water, soft drinks, fruit juices and vegetables by 4.2% (from 19.66 to 20,48 €).

The average monthly expenditure amounts to EUR 3,383.05 for households with reference person graduated, about twice that of families whose reference person has a primary school certificate or no educational qualifications. Among the families of employed workers the average monthly expenditure is equal to € 2,321.50 if the reference person is a worker and assimilated, rose to 3124.56 euro if it is leadership, framework or employee. Among the self-employed workers, the average monthly expenditure is 3585.20 for contractors and freelancers and 2733.88 EUR for the other independent workers.
