Greece, emergency summit in Berlin – The Republic

Rome – Summit in Berlin in the evening between the European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, and the Director General of the IMF. The meeting focused on – of course – the case that Greece continues to hold in fibrillation markets. An attempt to smooth out the differences and to try to break the deadlock. “The work must continue with greater intensity
“, it is the final message of the German Government in a statement released by Bloomberg. The leaders announced that they will remain in contact in the coming days.

A meeting in Berlin had taken place already in the afternoon between Merkel, Hollande and the EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, but Greece was not officially on the agenda of ‘appointment. Athens is approaching the meeting of 5 June, the deadline for the installment of 300 million to repay the IMF. But it is likely that the payment is made to slip later this month.
