industrial production jumped in January, held back in February – The National Primacy

Rome, Mar. 12 – Leap of industrial production at the beginning of the year. The reports Istat in its regular newsletter, explaining that “ in January 2016, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index increases, compared to December 2015, 1.9% . On average in November-January quarter the index increased by 0.2% compared to the immediately preceding quarter. ” Even better the indicator on an annual basis: “Adjusted for calendar effects – always emphasize Istat – in January, the index increases in trend terms by 3.9% ” over the same month of 2015.

A real mini-boom, that of industrial production, despite the fundamental – mainly GDP and inflation – are still at stake. The growth is observed in several areas, from the capital goods with +5.7% to intermediate goods (+ 2.5%) to the energy that reaches + 1.8%, while they remain in negative territory Food ( -0.6%) , textile and related industries receding 1.6% and especially mining that registers -3.9% . To make the lion’s share, as well as explaining much of the growth, the ride of the transportation sector, which marks + 10.9% and + 20.9% on the year . Mainly thanks Fiat Chrysler, whose contribution, however, will not last forever.

In fact, already in the second month of the year they may get some surprises. According to the Center Confindustria studios it risks a backlash, an increase compared to February last year to a more modest + 0.1%, which translates into an almost -1% compared to January .
