ROME. The South again, but the fragility of the production system, the internal and international uncertainty are likely to stop the growth has just begun. As a “check-up Mezzogiorno” elaborated together with SRM (the research center connected to Intesa Sanpaolo) Confindustria noted “potential enporni”, but also conflicting trends: on the one hand the forecasts on GDP remain, although slightly positive (0, 3 per cent in 2016 according to the latest estimates), the other the ‘turnaround urgently needs to be supported by public and private investment, such as to strengthen the vast majority of micro-enterprises (99 percent of the southern companies have less 49 employees) too fragile to do it alone. But the movement is a proof for the start-up boom and the higher gear – than the national average – in the export. Young companies and start-up boom. For the first time since 2008, reports the study, the number of companies to grow back and failures are reduced. There is a postive balance with respect to pirmo half of 2015 (plus 0.6 percent with ten thousand companies in more) and there is growing especially among joint-stock companies (16 thousand more, 6 per cent) and in the field youth: those under 35 are driven by more than 220 thousand and increase at a faster pace than the rest of the country. Compared to last year the innovative start-ups increased by 39.2 percent a shame that their sizes remain very small. Export and tourism. According to Confindustria could represent the keys the turning point. The export has in fact reached record levels: in the South, compared with first quarter 2015, increased by 2.5 percent against the stationary of the national figure. Well especially the districts (up 8.3 per cent against 3-5 North Centre). Cars and electronics driving the race, but rewarding especially Abruzzo, Molise and Basilicata. privileged partners of the Us and the eurozone, falling exports to Turkey (minus 35 percent) and Libya (minus 20 percent). more equitable growth in tourism: thanks to international tensions last year 500,000 foreign tourists arrived in more that ushered in the “boxes” of the South half milardo euro more than the previous season. Not only sea: also increased the quality tourism, the income of museums and archaeological sites increased by 13 percent. More jobs, but not enough. Compared to the first quarter of 2015 Confindustria noted 50,000 employees in more, while noting the effect of the reduction of incentives on open-ended contracts (in 2016, over the first five months of 2015, they plummeted of 57 percent). Of course, there is still much to be recovered in the Mezzogiorno the unemployment rate touching 20 percent, rising to 22.2 among women, and ballooned to 53.9 among the under 24.
