Deflation slows in July and consumer prices to fall by 0.1%. This was communicated by Istat confirming preliminary estimates. The national consumer price index, gross of tobacco, registered an increase of 0.2% on a monthly basis and a decrease of 0.1% on an annual basis (-0.4% in June). To determine the albeit limited downward trend in consumer prices in July is the persistent decline in energy prices (-7.0% compared to July 2015). The inflation for 2016 amounted to -0.1% (from -0.2% in June).
