Airbnb tries to neutralize the storm tax: signs agreements with 700 city – The Messenger

(Ticker) – The site of seasonal rentals on Airbnb you can protect you from future risks on the subject of taxes and aims to sign a fiscal agreement with the estimate of at least 700 cities around the world, to have certainty on the tax you will pay and avoid any unexpected changes of tax legislation at the local level. The decision was announced to the british newspaper the Financial Times from the number one of the company, Brian Chesky, and aims to expand the number of tax agreements from the current 200 to 700. “When you have a tax agreement, you get an explicit agreement and therefore are less risks on your very existence,” said the manager, clarifying the position of the group. The problem is re-proposed after an amendment to the budget Law, still in stand-by, has proposed to impose a sort of “cedolare secca” of 21% of the houses rented in Italy. Such a payment would act as a withholding agent and would be filmed by the company to the Tax authorities. But it is not only the Italy, the problem of the company that manages the platform for seasonal rentals and temporary in at least 50 thousand cities around the world, but rather the possibility that other countries can do the same and unexpectedly, with little certainty on the impact of the tax in the budget. The situation varies from city to city: in the hometown of San Francisco, for example, there is a fixed tax of 14% payable, in Paris, a city tax of stay of 83 cents a night and New York and a discussion on the possibility of imposing a tax “heavy” on seasonal rentals.
