The Prosecutor of Bergamo has closed the investigation on the management of occult and on the appointments to the Ubi Bank.
The suspects, who threatened the indictment are 39: 28 directors and officers pro tempore of the institute, members of the subsidiary Ubi leasing and two associations of shareholders and other 11 people external to the banking group. Among those who have received from the Guardia di Finanza, the notice of the closure of the investigation there are Giovanni Bazoli, president of the association Ablp, the chief executive officer of Ubi Victor Massiah and the chairman of the supervisory board Andrea Moltrasio. The offenses charged to the 39 suspects are, for various reasons, obstruction of the exercise of the functions of public supervisory authorities, illicit influence on the assembly in relation to the parent company, Ubi Banca, fraud, non-compliance of the obligations on the part of bank officials, conflict of interest and illegal tax with regard to the affairs of the subsidiary Ubi leasing. In particular, the former chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo, Giovanni Bazoli, president of the Association of Banca Lombarda e Piemontese, is accused of being part “of the cabin of direction” that “decided the appointments of the organs of the Bank and of its subsidiaries in sharing with those decided by the ‘commission Zanetti’”, part of which was, among others, Emilio Zanetti, the ex-president of the management board of Ubi Banca
