Volkswagen should make today another step towards the closing of the dossier dieselgate: the company and the u.s. department of Justice have reached a settlement agreement on the criminal investigation initiated against Vw. The agreement would include the admission of guilt on one or more points and the payment of a sum of 4.3 billion dollars (4 billion euros), a level comparable to the penalty paid by Bp for the diastro on the environment of the Deepwater Horizon rig in the gulf of Mexico; the board of directors and the surveillance of the German group will meet by tomorrow to ratify the agreement.

Vw aims to formalise the agreement before the changing of the guard at the department, that it would expand the times to a significant extent. The scandal has cost so far at Vw of 17.5 billion dollars in compensation to customers and sanctions in civil, account expected to rise with the understanding of today. Any agreement not shut up, however, the criminal investigation against the individual managers of Vw, the investigation that Saturday saw the arrest in Florida of Oliver Schmidt, a German manager. The documentation filed by the Fbi on that occasion indicates, in fact, that other senior executives of the group may be incriminated. Criminal investigations are also in progress in Germany; finally, open the hypothesis of compensations to customers in the european union, requested by the Eu, and that the company has so far always refused to pay.
Vw surpasses Toyota and is number one in the car
Meanwhile, the house of Wolfsburg breaks through the wall of the 10 million vehicles sold: 10,31 million, including trucks (with an increase of 3.8% on 2015) and 10,13 without the heavy vehicles. The performance of the German group in December was particularly brilliant (+11.8% in 933mila unit) thanks to the boom of Porsche (+28%) and brand Volkswagen, which scored a+16%, and despite the difficulties in Germany and the United States ended the year with deliveries growing by almost 3%.

The ceo of Vw, Matthias Müller, has commented that "2016 is a very busy year for us; we have made progress in leaving behind the crisis of diesel and at the same time started a process of change with the strategy of "Together ” 2025". And we succeeded in stabilizing the business in difficult conditions". Among the individual brands of the Vw group, Skoda (+6,8%) had the most brilliant performance in front of a Porsche (+5,6%), Audi (+3,8%), the above-mentioned Vw and Seat (+2,6%).
