L ‘ Istat has revised upwards by about 59 billion euro or 3.8% of the data on the GDP in 2013 The review was carried out following of the changes introduced by the new European System of Accounts ( Sec 2010 .)
The Italian GDP for 2013 is therefore now estimated at 1618.90000000000, against 1.5599 trillion of estimated in Sec 95 The new system of calculation of GDP provides for the inclusion of some illegal activities as the sale of drugs, prostitution and smuggling but also the costs for research and development and armaments.
The revision had no impact on the change compared to 2012, which remains steady at 1.9%.
There is instead a positive impact on the parameters of public finance , which should please the government. The deficit in 2013 is now equal to -2.8% . The estimate published last April, which is defined according to the criteria of Sec 95, stood at -3.0%. The Debt also came to 127.9% of GDP, and not to 132.6% as it was under the old system.
