(Update with declining confidence in the broader market)
ROME, September 26 (Reuters) – The manufacturing business confidence falls in September to 95.1 from 95.4 in August (revised from 95.7) . This was announced by Istat.
This is the lowest value since August 2013, when the index had registered 93.8.
The median estimates collected by Reuters among analysts pointed to a level of 95.5.
Improve production expectations (from 1 to 2 balance), but worse assessments on orders (-25 to -27). The balance for opinions on inventories remained stable at 3.
The overall index on the climate of business – manufacturing, services, trade and construction – down to 88.6 from 88.1 (revised from 88.2) in August.
Among the various sectors, the decline in the broader trust monitored by Istat regards the retail trade that goes down to 92.5 this month from 97.7 in August, with the worst ratings on both the current sales (-23 to -28) than in relating to expectations regarding future sales (from 3 to -4).
The confidence falls in both the large-scale distribution (from 96.5 to 90.5) and in the traditional (from 99.3 to 94.8).
Yesterday, the Mayor has confirmed that there is an ongoing decline in consumption. The seasonally adjusted index of retail sales in July fell 0.1% on the month, while in the first seven months of the raw index fell by 1.1% compared to the same period of 2013.
