Inflation, the Istat confirmed: + 0.2% in March. On an annual basis prices down 0.2% – The Messenger

Italy into deflation. The national consumer price index in March has registered a decline on an annual basis by 0.2% (from -0.3% in February). Prices are aumentatri instead of 0.2% on a monthly basis. This was communicated by Istat referring to the index for the whole nation (Nic) gross of tobacco, thereby confirming the flash estimate on the cost of living.

The deflation affects more and more cities, spreading like wildfire on National territory. There are 22 major metropolitan areee with prices declining on an annual basis. Were 20 in February. The list also Roma (-0.5%), Florence (-0.4%), Naples (-0.1%) and Milan (-0.1%). The strongest declines were recorded for Bari and Potenza (both -1.0%).

The trend decline in prices – says the Institute of Statistics – “suffers from a framework of basic stability of the performance of an annual basis of the different product types, with the exception of the further decline of energy products and in particular the non-Regulated energy (-11.2%, from -8.5% the previous month), however, compensated by the reversal of tendency of transport related services (+ 0.5%, from -0.7% in February) and other minor signs of recovery from certain types of product prices. ” “Signals – observes Istat – who have contributed, however, only to reduce the amplitude of the overall index decline.”

Net of unprocessed food and energy prices, the ” inflation Cross’ rises to + 0.6% (from + 0.5% in February); net only energy prices are leading to + 0.4% (from + 0.3% the previous month). The inflation for 2016 amounted to -0.4% (from -0.6% in February).
