According to final data released by Istat, in the first quarter of 2015 the Italian GDP increased by 0.3% in quarterly terms, by no change in the previous quarter.
On an annual basis, GDP recorded an increase of 0.1% (revised from no change) from -0.4% (revised from -0.5%) in the previous quarter.
After three years of recession, Italy seems to have started to benefit from the favorable macroeconomic mix determined by the expansionary policies of the ECB and the descent of euro and oil prices.
The latest government estimate for 2015, which has ranked this month the same Istat improving by 0.2 percentage points its previous forecast, it gives the GDP at + 0.7% (from -0.4 % recorded in 2014).
This week the governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, said the GDP is expected to grow in the coming quarters of 2015, stressing that the investment trend has turned positive.
The change in GDP gained for 2015 is 0.2%.
