Lamborghini will produce new SUV in Italy, provided 500 hires – Reuters Italy


       

ROME, May 27 (Reuters) – Lamborghini will produce his next sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the Italian factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and will launch the new model on the market in 2018, announced today the company confirmed sources said yesterday.


       

Lamborghini, which is part of the Volkswagen group, hopes that the new SUV will be successful in the growing market of the four for four luxury and increases profitability.


       

The company aims to sell about 3,000 vehicles a year, doubling the production group, which last year delivered 2,530 vehicles.


       

“The introduction of a third model means for us the beginning of a new era,” writes CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement.


       

Winkelmann will sign today in Palazzo Chigi a letter of intent with the Minister Matteo Renzi.


       

The luxury car manufacturer has announced the hiring of 500 employees, doubling the plant in Emilia-Romagna and the investment of “hundreds of millions of euro” within the lifetime of the project.


       

Yesterday, a source told Reuters that the Italian government has authorized deductions and tax incentives of up to 90 million euro from measures already approved to encourage Lamborghini to establish the production of the new model in Italy.


       

With the new SUV, Lamborghini will aim primarily to fans of the four-wheel drive in markets like the US, China, the Middle East, Britain, Germany and Russia. The company also hopes to gain new customers, especially families.
