Labour, in April 210 thousand contracts in most (+ 48 thousand fixed) – Il Sole 24 Ore

In April, the activations of new labor contracts overall were 756,926, compared to 546,382 terminations, with a positive balance of 210,544 units. This was reported by the Ministry of Labor reporting the first results obtained from the information system of compulsory communications company. The data released by the ministry is in line with that recorded in April 2014 (+203,000) but with a better balance for permanent contracts (+48,000 compared to -6000). April is also recorded strong positive balance of fixed-term contracts (+ 112 thousand). In March 2015, the overall balance between activations and terminations was of 92,299 units. While reports of permanent employment had a surplus of more than 31 thousand units. And those fixed-term of about 70 thousand.

In April activations of new permanent contracts were 171,515 compared to 122,979 terminations, with a surplus of over 48 thousand permanent contracts, which must be added, however, transformations of 35,883 reports of fixed-term employment relationships in indefinitely. The data is to be read not only in relation to incentives for open-ended contracts introduced by the Law of Stability 2015 (tax relief of up to € 8,060 per year for three years) but also to the fact that as of March 6, companies can take even with the new contract protections growing (which introduces compensation instead of reinstatement as a general rule in the case of unfair dismissal).

In terms of activations, in April, 171,515 were permanent contracts, 475,273 fixed-term contracts, 18,443 contracts apprenticeship, 38,632 of those 53,063 have been collaboration and forms of work classified under “other”. As for the transformation of fixed-term employment relationships into relationships of indefinite duration, were 35,883 (versus 19,144 in the same period of 2014). The number of terminations of employment relationships amounted to 546,382 instead. Of these, 122,979 relate to permanent contracts, 328,148 fixed-term, 13,636 were related to contracts of apprenticeship, 36,619 to 45,000 collaborations and forms of work classified under “other”.
