(AGI) – Rome, 18 May – Boom in exports and imports in March. It detects the spreading Istat data on foreign trade. The trend growth of exports and ‘equal to 9.2%, driven by sales to all countries outside the EU (+ 13.2%). The average unit values (+ 2.8%) and volumes (+ 6.3%) are both expanding. The significant trend increase in imports (+ 9.7%) and ‘determined by the growth in purchases from both EU (+ 10.1%) or those outside the EU (+ 9.1%). The strong growth trend for both streams and ‘conditioned by a difference in working days (22 March 2015 compared to 21 in March 2014). The change in trend adjusted for calendar days and ‘equal to + 7.8% for exports and 8.4% for imports. Compared to the previous month there was a growth in both trade flows, more ‘wide for imports (+ 4.0%) than for exports (+ 1.8%). In March 2015, the trade surplus and ’4.0 billion (€ 3.8 billion in March 2014). Excluding energy, the balance is in surplus to 7.1 billion. In the first quarter of the year the balance reached 7.8 billion (16.4 billion net of energy products).
