These are the main points of the strategic plan 2015-2019 launched today by the Italian Post Office. The MD. Group Francesco Caio has called him “a program of growth in investment, technology and people, for a company more transparent and competitive to serve the country.” Caio also pointed out that this “is a development plan, so there are no layoffs but continues the program outputs facilitated already started in 2010″. In the plan are also planned 8000 recruitments, half of which will be made between young graduates and new professionals, and the creation of a “corporate university” that riqualificherà 70 00 employees.
As for the 3 billion investment will instead directed to infrastructure and digital platforms to innovate the offer, of which 500 million for the rehabilitation and security of post offices. The areas on which the group will focus in the next five years are three: logistics and postal services, payments and transactions and insurance and savings. In the first sector, said Caio, there will be a “reformulation of prices: the citizens are accustomed to paying less for slow deliveries and more to the fast ones and we adjust.”
The services will change and will be differentiated, with the hypothesis of traditional mail delivery every other day and in the afternoon. There will also be a strong push towards e-commerce with the possibility of paying for delivery of parcels in post offices and the strengthening of the partnership with Amazon. The group would in fact get to a market share of 30% in business to consumer. In this area, as in that of payment cards and loyalty, you could also record several synergies with Alitalia.
The push towards digital is present at all points of the plan: “Italy is in transition from a traditional to a digital – said the CEO. – Poste is companion of households and firms in this step, because Italy is last among industrialized countries for electronic payments and we can play an important role in digital literacy. “
L ‘ objective of the plan is in fact changes from 20 to 30 million payment cards. The last point I will focus the efforts of Poste is the insurance and savings, where the aim is to go from 420 billion to 500 billion euro of collection. “Our challenge – is the vision of Caius – is to lead to large segments of the market a little more risky financial products, giving the opportunity for families to budget returns that traditional titles do not give more.”
Finally, is part of the plan also the privatization of the company for which he explained Caio, in the coming months should be defined a roadmap with the shareholder.
