TOKYO – The Nikkei index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed today retreating 0.67% to 20,544.43 points: the Japanese stock market ended the week on weak tone in the wake of the retreat on Wall Street caused by some disappointments in terms of corporate profits and lower than expected data on the manufacturing sector in China.

Investors seem to look carefully to the renewed aggression of Corporate Japan on in front of the foreign acquisitions. If yesterday, the Nikkei group stunned the world with the acquisition of the Financial Times, it was announced today an agreement of even more significant magnitude: Meiji Yasuda Life has reached an agreement to acquire the insurance group American StanCorp Financial for $ 5 billion , continuing the campaign-international purchases of Japanese industry policies.

This is one of the largest operations abroad ever made by a Japanese insurance company. The sector appears today but down on the stock market, as some investors fear any expensive emulations. Rising markedly the title of TV Tokyo, after its main shareholder, the Nikkei, won the gorioso daily City.
On the macro front, it should be noted that manufacturing activity in Japan recorded in July, the best performance since last February, as indicated by the Japan Nikkei Flash Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 51.4 from 50.1 in June.

But in China, according to the preliminary index Caixin-Markit PMI, the industrial sector is slowing dramatically, contracting more pronounced pace of the last 15 months, with a reading of 48.2 in July for the fifth consecutive month below the 50 threshold which is the boundary between contraction and expansion.
