MILAN, July 21 (Reuters) – Fincantieri closed the first half with profitability and operating result in deterioration, but with an increase in orders and sales. In a statement the company says of naval ended the first six months of the year with a loss of 19 million euro, compared with a profit 33 million achieved a year earlier. The result attributable to the group is rather positive for 12 million, but only half compared to 24 million a year earlier. The EBITDA fell to 128 million from 142 million, while EBIT dropped to 74 million from 93 million. New orders totaled 4.17 billion, more than the 3.48 billion in the corresponding period of 2014, bringing its backlog to touch 16 billion. The workload (backlog) rose to 12 billion from 9.5 billion. Unlike the segment shipbuilding and naval vessels in the offshore segment, there was a significant slowdown in orders, the company said in a statement. Revenue increased to 2.2 billion from nearly 2 billion a year earlier.
