The ruling yesterday of the Wto (world Trade Organization), for which the Eu has not complied with the directions against the subsidies from Brussels to Airbus, is an important part of a dispute that has been going on for 12 years between America and Europe. However, it comes at a time of extremely delicate of their commercial relationships. The reactions that occurred yesterday, after which the Wto has declared illegal the practice of subsidies to billion (22 according to the americans) to Airbus, are the sign of the voltage: bits of joy to Washington, and regret, and intentions of revenge in Brussels. Reactions that do not promise good: because it is to short, the Wto probably will condemn the Us for aid to Boeing.
Here, in the case of the judgment of the Wto on Airbus, we are faced with something extremely delicate. The world Trade Organisation, and has two functions. One is to facilitate the sharing of rules of free trade between member Countries. In recent times, this area has lost much of its capacity to conclude agreements on liberalization. The other, in due time, is its authority in the resolution of commercial disputes. If the disputes Airbus-Boeing were to put in question the judgment of the Wto on disputes, the system of international trade regulations would be put in crisis by the two major western economies that they should be samples.
