MILAN - The decision of the Ecb to put in discussion the share of Banca Mediolanum held by the Fininvest of Silvio Berlusconi – who has lost the requirements to reputation after the tax fraud on tv rights by Mediaset – the door to the freezing of a large part of the voting rights of the holding company of Arcore. The company holds an indirect stake of Banca Mediolanum amounting to 30,124%, of which 20,125% without voting rights: the suspension of voting rights therefore applies to the portion in excess of 9.99%. The precise numbers emerge from the communication on the Mediolanum to Consob that is made from the same Fininvest on the 25th of October, after the decision of the european central Bank that, on the administrative procedure instructed by the Bank of Italy, has announced to oppose the acquisition by the holding company of a qualifying holding in the institution. “This decision means – it is stated in the update Consob -, as indicated by the Bank of Italy on the proposal for a decision transmitted to the european central Bank, the suspension of the voting rights in respect of the portion exceeding the 9,999% of the interest held by Fininvest spa”. After the communication of the Ecb Fininvest has already made it know on the 28th of October, having resolved to challenge in all relevant forums, including the european Court of justice, the decision of the central bank of Frankfurt, in addition to the appeal to the Tar and one to the Council of State on the bank of Italy. Silvio Berlusconi controls, indirectly through Fininvest, the overall 30,124% of Banca Mediolanum, the 20,125% without voting rights is learns now. The previous picture of the participation communicated to Consob dated the 3 march, and saw the former president of the Council of the 30,042% of the share capital of Banca Mediolanum.
